Love is a miracle

Man and woman made He we
Woven in a wondrous womb
Made to live and love and die
Moments fleeting all too soon

Happily we wandered each
Contentedly we stayed the same
Suddenly loves joy surprised
When oneness redefined its name

The God we always thought we knew
Unveiled the glory of His face
A match ordained to please our Lord
Agape love bestowed by grace

Alas, He gives and takes away
And I am left to wonder why
What may no man asunder turn
God Himself chose to deny

Broken promise, broken heart
Amputated is my spine
Incomplete and impotent
Could this be by Your design?

Such wond’ring leads one to despair
Unsearchable His ways, I’m told
What are You thinking way up there?
How will this tragedy unfold?

Will it end in lies and shame?
Or love triumph in victory?
Why must we suffer each alone?
When will you end our agony?

Love was a promise made
With fond affection both between
Ne'er to leave nor to betray
Marital love in Jesus’ name

Yet human weakness cannot hold
What star struck lovers cannot see
Burdens of a promise bold
Doomed before it came to be

A waining mind feigns sanity
As fear ferociously attacks
Our shield swiftly disappears
Darkness exposing what we lack

Mercy Lord, we need You now
For we are but dust and ash
Sinners sorrowful, contrite
In the pit our teeth we gnash

To love, though one is betrayed
Is an inhuman trait
Lord please forgive me for my sins
Teach me how We can relate

Even in my sinful state
You sent Your sinless Son to die
His blood innocently shed
To pay sin’s debt and death defy

Benefactor of such grace
You’ve commissioned me to love
By faith I follow Your command
But blindly I proceed to move

Now she’s left, our love is cold
O miracle whose power’s gone
The blind lover’s love removed
Yet still by thy will be done

How can love be all you need
If pain is its only fate?
Nay, God’s love is my cure
Though woefully I take this plate

For a little longer still
Job’s condition will I share
God’s humble servant I remain
Though stuck in circumstance unfair

Man and woman made He we
Woven in a wondrous womb
Made to live and love and die
Moments fleeting all too soon
